An estimate gives you a starting point. An inspection and an actual offer determine the next step.

Retail and trade-in mean different things.

Retail estimates reflect a potential dealer sale. A trade-in range leaves room for reconditioning, holding costs and resale margin. Neither is a guaranteed price.

How much is my tow truck worth?

Your tow truck’s value depends on its year, chassis, towing body, mileage, condition and the available market information. TowValue uses those details to estimate a retail and trade-in range. Start with your truck’s specifications rather than a general average: a rollback and a heavy recovery truck serve different markets.

How do I find my tow truck’s trade-in value?

Enter your truck’s year, make, model, body type, mileage, condition and ZIP code to request an estimated trade-in range. A dealer’s actual offer depends on an inspection, expected repairs, inventory needs and resale costs. Use the estimate as a starting point for a trade-in conversation, not a guaranteed offer.

Estimate your trade-in value

What is the difference between retail value and trade-in value?

Retail value estimates what a truck might sell for through a dealer. Trade-in value estimates what a dealer might pay or credit toward another truck. Trade-in value is generally lower because the dealer needs room for inspection, reconditioning, holding costs and resale margin. An advertised asking price is not the same as a completed sale price.

How much is a used rollback or flatbed tow truck worth?

A rollback’s value depends on both the chassis and its installed carrier body. Year, mileage, bed length, body make, condition and title status help distinguish otherwise similar trucks. TowValue uses the details you enter to estimate a range when enough market information is available. Hydraulic, winch and deck condition also deserve an in-person inspection.

Can I estimate the value of a wrecker or rotator?

TowValue supports light, medium and heavy wreckers, as well as rotators. Specialized recovery equipment can need a closer review of its configuration, capacity and condition. When the model has low confidence for a heavy wrecker or rotator, it shows a specialist-review path instead of a numeric range. An automated estimate is not a professional appraisal.

How do mileage and condition affect tow truck resale value?

TowValue adjusts its estimate for mileage and the condition you select. Higher mileage or poorer condition can reduce the estimate relative to otherwise similar equipment. Actual buyers may also inspect engine hours, maintenance records, corrosion, tires and hydraulic components. Those inspection details are not individually measured by the online estimate, so describe condition carefully.

Does a tow truck valuation include the towing body?

TowValue considers the chassis and towing body together, including body type, body make and bed length where applicable. A chassis-only estimate can miss an important part of the equipment’s value. Enter the installed body accurately; a VIN decoder may identify the chassis without identifying aftermarket towing equipment.

Can I look up my tow truck’s value by VIN?

You can use the optional VIN decoder to help fill in chassis details, or enter them manually. The VIN alone does not establish your tow truck’s value. You still need to confirm its towing body, mileage, condition and location. If decoding is unavailable or incomplete, manual entry remains available.

How accurate is an online tow truck value estimate?

An online estimate is a starting range, not an inspection, certified appraisal or offer to buy. TowValue models advertised asking prices with adjustments; it does not verify completed sale prices. Available data, its age and your truck’s details affect confidence. Check the result’s confidence and data date, then confirm value through an inspection and actual offers.
